![]() ![]() That way you have more possibilities to control strategic provinces (mostly the provinces that will give malus if your troops are engaged), fight lesser armies that comes to annoys you in those big coalitions wars etc. So yeah i think an ideal army size would be something that will avoid most of attrition, while steing being able to fight versus bigger stacks without being crushed instantly. They'll send stacks of 25 / 30 or more depending on the date but if you have like 2 stacks of 15-20 you'll be able to bait the big stack, reinforce with an other army and beat them. This means that 2 years of manpower is worth 250 Military mana. Each recruitment gives you an immediate 1 professionalism. The other way is by recruiting generals, which costs 50 Military mana. Most japanese daimyos have +10, and Shinto gives another 10, and you. France and Prussia give +20 morale, highest in rhe game. Also you can get ideas or bonuses from religion. If you fight many wars early on, you will have like +30 on average. As Venice i've won countless wars against Austria just by starting to occupy their provinces mostly composed with moutains. You gain professionalism by drilling your armies, but this method only yields 1 professionalism per year at most. Power projection gives +10 at a 100, and +10 from 100 prestige. Plus a good tactic when facing big stacks of armies is to bait them into engaging you in mountains so you have a nice terrain bonus, and then reinforce quickly with an other army. unless you are fighting a big monster like Russia, sieging 2-3 forts including their capitals is enough to take 50 warscore in peace deals. You dont necessarily needs large stacks as they will get some attrition (although, if you have money & manpower, its not much of an issue really, attrition should be buffed). while its impossible to avoid all manpower drain, if you find yourself needing quantity to wins wars without going into deep manpower deficit its just because you are not fighting smart enough. ![]()
